.280 Enfield...Ahead of its time

6.5 is my favorite bore diameter. But I can't agree that the .223/5.56 was a mistake, the ammunition, possibly, especially the M855. But if the 5.56 is loaded with 77 grain SMK's it is very effective. I've grown fond of it shooting 4-8K rounds a year in the national match course of fire, it dominates over .308's regardless of platform, M1a or SR25. And a center punched 77 smk is more lethal than an off center .308.
