I started out with the original version; nowadays it's usually called the sporter. Either way it's a great and economical chrono. The lab radar might be the cat's meow but either mgspd will do you proud. Develop a routine and double check the lineup on your barrels at home before you go out. For the sproter/ver. 1 you should use an aluminum cleaning rod sticking out the muzzle to check blade alignment with bullet path, in the ver. 3 it has its own flight path rod. The only barrels I had a bit of trouble with, and that wasn't much, were the sporter barrels because of their taper. but I used a small pad of tape under the front portion of the mount to level up the blade under the bullet path.
They are super accurate and you can also get the avg and SD of a group of shots. I record all the stuff in a small notebook and take it all back to my Excel spreadsheets.
Best advantages of the mgspd and labradar are that you don't shut down the range to set up, and they work sun or shade, evening or at noon.
