Different dwell/cycle time from ignition to the next cartridge is in battery and ready to fire. The 5.56 runs quite a bit more pressure than the 6.5 Grendel where I can hear a difference in the noise/report. The 6.5 Grendel shows a significant difference to 5.56 when shooting steel targets or in hunting.
I bought a 12 6.5 Grendel pistol and I was expecting a lot more noise and blast. My 12 6.5 Grendel with A-2 FH isnt much different than my 16 6.5 Grendel with A-2 FH. Significantly more noise, blast and flash out of a shorter barrel 5.56.
Some 5.56 AR-15s run gas ports on the large size to ensure reliable function in arctic conditions. My 5.56 carbine gas 16 AR-15s arent as smooth shooting as my mid length gas 16 barrel AR-15s. My 20 Colt H-Bar with rifle length gas with rifle buffer and spring has its own unique very confidence inspiring character.
I notice the same differences comparing my 16 Carbine Gas 6.5 Grendel to my 16 mid length gas 16 6.5 Grendel. For me all my guns have their own unique handling and are different personalities.
As long as your 6.5 Grendel is functioning 100% and brass is not being consistently ejected at 1-2 O Clock I think youve shot enough to see the uniqueness of the 6.5 Grendel cartridge in the AR-15 compared to the 5.56 AR-15.
