I just collapsed the last coil on the OEM spring by heating it up with a propane torch, then pushing it flat against the next coil. Its a common technique tuning “springer” air rifles and I’ve done it bunch. The upside is you don’t reduce the overall length of the spring when compressed, just the strength/tension. I’m sure clipping a coil or two would work in this scenario too, it was just easier for me to collapse the 1 coil, rather than trim it.

Ended up around 2-2.5 lbs IIRC?
