Might be worth it but you need special buffer and spring for low-mass too.

My 6.5g low mass rifle has a 18" mid-gas mid-weight barrel. I enjoyed the project. I was my first AR15 ever and an entirely from "stripped" parts. I bought my barrel from Brownells and during my first and only time to shoot at 600 yards produced an 8" at 600yd, 10-20mph wind, with Hornady Black at the CMP range in Talladega, AL. I use a PST 2.5-10x32. Rifle is under 9lbs with scope and loaded 17rd magazine. Not super long range but enough to confirm the bug bite for me. Still think of how fun that was sitting on a frozen concrete bench with windy mist and a hot rifle. Tried over a dozen factory loads that day. Shot a 1" group with Wolf at 100yd. I think rushed some of my groups and could produce better groups given more opportunity. Started collecting reloading equipment and supplies now.
Velocity Precision BCG looks very lightweight at 6.8oz but has no forward assist teeth so you won't be able to enhance your jams. Might be good. I used an upper with FA and found a BCG with teeth. Found some without too for under $100. I don't know about their AGB and that part matters. It needs to be able to adjust after carbon builds up. Cheap ones show their colors at this point. Other than that it looks good to me. Interesting find. If you try it let us know. Most Adjustable gas blocks require a certain amount of room under the handguard.
