16” with stock isn’t going to be a possible legal liability should your DA decide to prosecute you for using your ‘pistol’
SBR would be perfect...assuming you live in a locality that it’s legal in, and that you don’t mind asking the kings permission to have a short barrel.

You’ll never have to worry about defending yourself with a 16” rifle.
