With the lightweight 20 inch barrel sub 5lbs is doable for sure. I got my 22inch barreled one down to 5.5lbs with an MPI ultralight stock.

Although for the expense you might be better off buying a kimber Montana in a more potent cartridge. Unless you're just doing it for fun - at the end of the day you still only have a howa lol

Yea I thought about going bigger, if I choose to go down that route it’ll be a 6.5x47 Lapua on a Defiance anTi action and I’d talk to Kerry at MG Arms for the build. The Howa would be more for fun and prove that I can do it. And I love efficient cartridges. I have a Rem 260 (not my favorite), Tikka 270 (sweet), a Sako 85 ‘06 (pure love) and access to just about any caliber I’d like up to 416 Rigby so it’s an itch to be scratched rather than a void to fill. And my wife and kids can shoot the Grendel as well. So really it’s for them. Yea. That’s the ticket...
