I was always told to go with the heaviest longest barrel that I could handle for my situation.I have a 24 inch heavy Bartlein barrel .936 gb.It weighs 11 pounds with a 4-16 x 50 Nikon black scope. I do half inch MOA with handloads. I mostly shoot out to 600 yards with it.
Im thinking if you took 4 inches off my barrel and fluted it you would probably still get great accuracy. And a significant drop in weight.
Precision Firearms does a great job but theyre not the only game in town. Ive gotten barrels from Mark and they shoot great. He comes highly recommended. But I also use Craddock Precision which I have been using for longer. I also recommend them.
But both are very busy. You wont see your barrel for three months at least. Ive been waiting since November 1st for three barrels, 2 from Craddock Precision and one from Precision Firearms. They are all due next week. But Im not holding my breath.
