I've heard of running without the rubber o-ring, but not without the spring itself...
don't want to sound too simple, but what about ensuring the extractor slot and roll pin are clean and ...dry-lubed, sort-of? Every break down I do for cleaning disassembles and cleans the extractor, slot and roll pin...
