The Grendel is much more "mainstream" now than when many of us started with the cartridge. Howa, CZ and Ruger all have more than one model boltaction Grendel available. I may be wrong but I suspect more AR companies are offering the Grendel as an option. Ammo is more plentiful as are reloading die choices.
More small ammo manufactures have ammo available, Bigger name ammo companies have and are making more ammo choices available. I say our little cartridge has been representing it's self quite well.
The hunting forums I frequent have more discussions about the Grendel now than I believe ever before, and this forum is growing. On Ammoseek the Grendel has been in the top 10 searched cartridges for quite some time.
Some cartridges take a long time to reach the popularity they deserve, but many good ones eventually do and some do not. Then there are some that are a flop and instant collectors item from the get go.
Back in 1982 when I bought my first 7mm-08 I had to drive to the next town to an LGS to find one box of ammo. I bought that box/bullets/powder/dies at the same time so I could have ammo. Now look at that round, but it took years to get popular.
Just looking at some of the ammo manufactures with Grendel offerings.
Hornady at least 4 now I think
PPU 2 Glad to see them back in the game
Wolf one or two
Remington 2
Nosler 4
Barnes 2
Federal 3 or more
Plus a lot of smaller companies
And we now have more brass options than ever.
Just because you do not see X many new offerings for things for a certain cartridge at SHOT does not mean it is not still growing in the mainstream. Companies make a lot of their money promoting the next new thing while paying for those promotions and R&D with things they know will make them $.
