Update with alternative pressures
Thanks LRRPF52 for pointing out the industry standard pressure that rifles are tested to.
These are on the SAAMI website at: [URL="https://saami.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/ANSI-SAAMI-Z299.4-CFR-Approved-2015-12-14-Posting-Copy.pdf"]Document with cartridge drawings and pressures

Pressures for standard reference ammunition:
p357 223Rem 55000 psi
p357 6.5 Gr 52000 psi
p358 260Rem 60000 psi
Rifles are required to also survive firing a proof round with 1.3x those pressures. (p352)
Here is the reworked chart:

So, the adjusted bolt face thrust figures are:
223Rem 7770 lb
6.5Gren 10110 lb
260Rem 13270 lb
So, there is a bit more thrust with the Grendel. It's within the 30% margin required above the 223 Rem, but of course you would like more margin than that ie 30% above the reference Grendel pressure, to allow for things like water in the chamber, minor barrel obstructions and stuff that our rifles tolerate all the time without drama.
I had come to the conclusion (as flyrod explains) that if the manufacturer sells a version in 7.62x39 or PPC, then it will be fine but if its only 223 then its your risk if you supersize the cartridge. Of course, a lot of custom Grendels use actions that will take a 308 class round so they will be fine too.
Thanks again guys for knowledgeable and helpful advice.
