I’m hearing a trend developing - let me try and recap
* there is a segment in the consumer market for those who seek to purchase parts and assemble rifles at rock bottom prices and will accept accuracy that lies outside the calibers standard envelope.
I suppose I get it, heck even I strive to do the same , I’ve got 5 Diamondback Firearm barrels that I paid $ 109 a piece for.
Difference being, I cannot accept results outside the calibers accuracy envelope.
Why not ?
Because the price is too high per round on Grendel (factory and hand loaded)
If I’m wanting to exercise my trigger finger, hearing things go bang, and rid a few pests from the ranch I’d simply choose a 223 or 7.62x39 for that chore. After about 5k rounds that Grendel will have cost you some money regardless of barrel choice and maker - which sort of put the whole ideal of assembling a dirt cheap rifle on it’s head.
Now , point to this thread is - I apparently don’t need to wonder anymore if BCA barrels are shooters because the folks in NC are nice enough to post itty-bitty group photos on the product page which certifies their product as accurate inside the accuracy envelope.
Problem is I haven’t seen (for myself) or viewed anybody matching their results with barrels and ammo purchased in the last 45 days.......
In closing: a $ 400.00 - $600.00 build that WILL shoot small groups IS the goal of MANY frugal consumers. For reasonable amounts of shooting it can remain cost competitive with other calibers. I haven’t seen that BCA is the answer so I’ll keep looking Diamondback’s way for the Grendel truck gun / youth training rifle / backup hunter rig build(s).
