As a user of the BDX system, I'll give my accounts.
First and foremost, it is a really cool technology. I have the 4-14 and the 2200 range finder. The range finder is absolutely top notch. The scope is a mixed bag of great surprises and a few disappointments.
Let me talk to the scope first. Can I say again the technology is really cool and works well. Sig mentions in many interviews and product information videos that this is really a hunting solution. I mostly agree and there are several reasons. Firstly, in order to incorporate the variable stadia marks for the reticle, it has to be thick. Very thick for any type of precision target shooting. The reticle will simply cover a 24" target at 400 yards. There is no way around that. Secondly, the glass is not of quality to clear mirage at very far distance. Finally, long range shooting is very much aided by First Focal Plane reticles and adjustable turrets. This system is meant to get on a target very quickly and make a kill shot. I would feel comfortable letting a first time hunter use this system out to 200 yards with minimal practice. I don't think I could keep it on 24" steel at 600yd because I wouldn't really be able to see the target. I've had it out to 200yds and hit 4-6" groups from a sub MOA rifle. Kill deer = yes, win match = no.
Now to the range finder. This is actually my second Sig 2200 range finder. When I ordered the first one, I told a coaching buddy about it who is a big-time golfer and H.S. golf coach. It arrived in the middle of the week, and I couldn't get out with it until the weekend. He asked to borrow it and I said sure. He came to my house after his practiced and asked if he could just order me a new one on the spot. He said he needed that range finder now. I let him log on to my computer and a new one was on my porch that Friday. This thing is almost EDC for me. Seriously, I carry it even when I know I won't be target shooting and I think there may be a chance to range something cool. It's my third range finder and by far my favorite.
