Gee Bob, I think you might be missing a 6.5 cartridge here or there!
I really like the 6.5x47, Creedmoor, and .260. I had about decided on the .260 as my next 6.5, and then you go and say you think the Creedmoor is the best! I thought that the performance of the 3 was essentially the same, but with the advantage to the .260 because of all the brass offerings, especially now that Lapua is making .260 brass.
Now you make me rethink everything!
I'll certainly agree that at distances past 600 yards the others have a significant advantage on the Grendel. I did shoot the Grendel at an F class match at 1000, and with switchy winds, I was the only one with any X's. The .308's, (mostly) that I was shooting against had more problems than I did shooting Hornady factory ammo. The other guys shooting in F Open had equipment problems, I think, and fell out at 1000. I missed winning the stage because one of the .308 shooters saw a wind change I missed and had one more 10 than I did, but he had no X's. All the F guys were in one class because there weren't enough to make seperate classes. My goal is always to shoot with the .308 guys score wise when I shoot the Grendel, since that is what it actually stacks up against, even though I have to classify it in Open.
