According to my Exbal program, with the meteorological and environmental factors that I entered, my 123 grain Scenar doesn't go transonic until after 1300 yards. Sure I have to read wind, and use the right corrections to get a hit, but I have to do that with any other cartridge.
Of course, if my bullet was going 1500 FPS faster, I wouldn't have to correct as much for wind. However, my problem is usually not reading wind accurately enough over the entire distance of the bullet's flight. But whether I miss by 10 inches, or 20 inches at 1000 yards, a miss is still a miss.
