Thanks. Yea, I've got a very tolerant wife. The night vision can be removed instantly, and just snapped back on. I've used EoTechs for a while, have one on a .223, and my .458 (which makes a great hog gun, and I'll consider putting the night vision on that one too, but the recoil is a little more. I put one on my daughter's mouse gun I built for her too.

Just some friendly advice, but I wouldn't put your monocular on your .458 if it were me. I'd at least research that heavily. I know PVS-14s aren't supposed to ride anything heavier recoiling than a 5.56. The older Gen 3s will supposedly live longer, but if your tube is pinnacle or one of the other newer units its days would likely be shortly numbered on a heavy recoiling system. The housings weren't really designed for it, and ITT has warned against it. Littons aren't immune either.

I've had multiple vendors blow smoke up my butt at work about this issue in the past also.

The gist of the problem is that the newer tubes mount the plates much closer together these days to reduce halo effect. Unless they are in shock isolated mounts specifically intended for weapons sighting, they don't like heavy recoil at all.

I'm no expert, but you can also ask Victor over on Arfcom's Night Vision forum and I'm sure he'll back it up. What monocular are you using, and do you know what tube is inside of it? Is it a pinnacle? If its pre pinnacle, do you know what Omni contract equivalent it is?
