I don't have one to look at, but it would make sense that the mag body would have a reduced width internally to keep the .223 rounds stacked evenly and may even have guides similar to an AR mag body to keep them "in place" and may be why the straight-walled 350 won't go in it. .223 mags wouldn't give me the increased OAL anyway.
I may likely keep an eye out for a spare American stock and short action magazine and do my experimenting on them next year.
