I was using a Federal mag primer. When I opened the chamber a lot of smoke and a little charred powder came out.

TB was my go to powder for big bore practice. In retrospect I agree with you that cast bullets lend themselves better to low pressure loads.

For two months out of the year, I shoot big guns. I just don?t feel comfortable shooting reduced loads anymore.

Something wasn?t right that day, I was loading at the range, same load that I have shot many many times.
