Yep, but the vast majority of people who can carry (either in states where permits are not required or who have permits in states that do require) do not actually carry a gun on a regular daily basis. There were probably (based on the statistics) several people in the Walmart that had their carry permit. If there were, it is likely only 10% or so of them were actually carrying despite the fact that this was NOT a gun free zone. None engaged the shooter.

Sad to say but the fourm I first seen this on, someone posted a list and the last 7 mass shootings line up in places and time lines with the left's anti gun campaign.

I would hope this isn't really the truth behind the matter but I'm having a hard time believing the liberals wouldn't go to this low of a level.

One thing is for sure we are living in very sad times. And the course our country is running can only lead too one of two ends.

Folks can cherrypick events to fit timelines, but the reality is that mass shootings happen on an ongoing basis. It seems like everybody wants their own definition of mass shooting. Mother Jones requires it to first be a mass murder (defined as 3 or more killed not including the shooter) before it can be a mass shooting, and it has to happen in a public place. Others simple go by casualties (4 or more shot and/or killed) and some have trouble distinguishing between those who are shot and those who were injured during the event by other means (e.g., falling down). I saw where a guy on another forum was claiming mass shootings happen before major events. I am not sure what he is talking about. We don't have any major events coming up anytime soon per se.

Based on what I can find, mass shootings happen every month of the year, every year, for quite a number of years now.

This is the most extensive listing of mass shootings, but you have to read incident by incident to verify that they are all actually mass shootings and not inclusive of people injured otherwise or the shooter not included in the tabulation...

I thought this was a really interesting article on mass shootings. It only includes data to 2013, but it discusses some of the issues with categorizing these events in that there is no one actual official definition. In the trends section, it has an interesting breakdown of public mass shootings, familial mass shootings, and other felony mass shootings.
