After viewing the in-depth contributions to this Thread, this thought occurred to me, What would the M1 Carbine be, if designed today?

Would certainly like to know what Grendel bullet fired from a 16 inch Grendel barrel has better penetration than the currently issued 7.62 Ball shot from any of the issued 7.62 weapons today.

Would like to know what Grendel bullet fired from a 16 inch Grendel barrel had better penetration than the old M-80 at 1K.

I do not recall any testing at all done with the Grendel at 1K, let alone penetration testing at any distance using any type of practical Grendel bullet -- not a bullet that no one would every consider producing for their military.
