Interesting idea...Have you used pasta to do this? Does it come out in two neat halves like the HB industries product?

Yes, it does work, you can end up with a bit more breakage on the portion you hit with your cleaning rod, but the upper portion usually drops intact. Depends how brittle the pasta is.
