The instructions that came with my filter say: NOT RECOMMENDED FOR LED LIGHTS. For best results use with incandescent light sources. The acrylic plastic will burn if exposed to heat producing toxic fumes, do not use with lights that produce excessive heat for long periods of time.
DO NOT LOOK INTO THE LIGHT FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME AS YOU CAN DAMAGE YOUR EYES.
As to the light wavelength it depends on what your version of night vision sees best, you will have to ask the manufactuer if the ~600nm / ~700nm / ~800nm / 900nm range is best for your device and then get with the seller to see if he has that version.
@hydrotech - I am self taught brutha, WAY TOO MUCH time on the Internet immersing myself in this stuff. Also I look for cheap ways to do things first, see what works in the field - believe it or not you learn alot by breaking stuff :p

Here is a video using the Bosch AEGIS illuminator from the same hunting stand as the previously posted "Homemade Illuminator" video. The Bosch setup is lighter (weight) easier to operate solo and of course NO hotspot (even illumination). P.S. I think the cows can see or sense the IR illumination, something to think about and watch with other animals.....
