if you are using an IR filter, you will really need alot of light, as it really cuts down on the light going through it, Benny used a spotlight with it

You can use a IR Flashlight or IR Illuminator, on the side of my N550 I use a ATN IR-450:

You can use a flashlight that you can get from China, they work great for distances to about 100 yards:

you can also upgrade a surefire and other flashlights with the bulb that is in that light, but costs about the same price, here is a video running with that bulb from china:
