Ejected brass dented from deflector

I am having a terrible time getting the firing pin retainer in that 2nd itty bitty hole inside my BCG??? any tricks for this??

Insert pin in first hole, then orientate the bcg so your looking from back down into it and you can see the pin as it enters the opposing side. Just when you think your pushing it straight across the span you may noticed that it is angling down or up a touch too much.
