I have a totally original early 80s Colt Sporter AR with very low round count (<500) and I like to use that rifle as a comparison to my new AR clones. one thing that is readily apparent is that the colt uses a pretty soft extracator spring. The extractor can easily be flexed outward using your fingers. The same cannot be said on my grendel. The colt has always cycled perfectly with any ammo in it, too.
