(1) On our old forum (before it got eaten) an engineer type showed pretty convincenly that for every inch of increase barrel length BETWEEN 10 and 14 inches you get an additonal 50fps. For every inch between 14 and 18 maybe an additional 25fps. and every inch after 20 inche maybe only 15fps increase. Most of us stay in the 18-20 inch range unless we plan to shoot waayy out there. (2) Barrel weight is dependant on how fast you shoot and how much you want to carry around. (3) Optics questions are harder. The Grendel is very accurate so good high power (read heavy and expensive) optics can be helpful when try and make use of the accuracy in your 16 or 18 inch barrel. I like 2-7 x or 3-9x. But I cant argue with people who want to strap Hubble sized scopes on a short light rifle. Good to have you on board
