So. After talking with Verizon tech support, and the tests they ran, they seem to think it is an issue with the 65grendel server. This may very well be. However, I'm now (as I type) connected to my laptop and using my (vzw wireless!) phone as a gateway, thus bypassing the verizon land-fios network. and I'm connected, just had to re-enter my password.
Something is definitely hinky between the verizon fios network and this forum server....
Maybe it has to do with the so-called "bogon filter", which is something to filter out "bogus" IP's..... but that is something only the 65grendel tech support people could chase down.
I know my public IP address and also the private one if they want to know about it, maybe it will help.
In any case, as of now the combo of verizon fios and this forum site is NO-Worky for me.....
