Judging from the results most people have posted, you can expect anywhere between 1.5 and 10 MOA of accuracy, depending on your particular system.
If you have one of the lucky 1.5's, then a 15" gong is within the spread. If, on the other hand, you're looking a 5 MOA shooter, then a 50" inch gong is in the spread.
(Mind you, this takes no windage, shooter skills, etc. into consideration.)
In terms of ballistics, the bullet will have the energy to reach 1000 yards, but your hold over is going to be quite high.
Short answer, yes, it is possible. But not the best choice. You will likely be shooting way more ammo on the misses than on the hits.
