I am also rather worried about California
First, the legislature has at least a half-century history of blatantly ignoring the voters that is why we now have the much abused initiative process to enable legislation that should have been taken care of in Sacramento.
We couple that with the current proclivity to openly ignore Federal law and it does not take much imagination to project serious violations of 2A, property, and other rights that go unchecked on spite of Federal court rulings to stop the abuse.
So, yes, we Californians need to become more active in politics especially initiatives to protect the fidelity of elections. See the paragraph above to see why our activism may still be a very steep hill and possibly not successful soon enough to keep some honorable citizens out of jail.
