Well my wife's pissed I sold "her" old AR-15 (a 5.56 beater build I put together to see how cheap I could get a reliable-running AR-15. Answer: about $750 bought be a rig that went almost 2,000 rounds without a cleaning with no problems, so I got bored and sold it for a profit.) I didn't know she liked it so much.
She's preggers right now (due in late June) so I have plenty of time to work with, but I wanted to grab her a pistol AR she can blast away with. Since, assuming wolf comes out with the steel cased stuff, I'll be switching my primary to a 6.5 AR, I'd like to keep ammo commonality with her. She isn't much for long-range shooting; she likes to blast away at close range targets with either pistol or rifle. This would be for her own fun and to also be a "keep around the house" gun for repelling unwanted guests.
So far my thinking is:
SAOD 10.5" upper (~$900 shipped)
Pistol Lower (~$225 shipped and xferred)
Aimpoint Micro T-1 (~$550)
Some Surefire (~$100)
VTAC sling (~$50 shipped)
Anyone have experience with 6.5 SBR/pistols, particularly SAOD's?
What should I expect in terms of finickyness, cleaning, that sort of thing?
What should I expect in terms of terminal performance at short (<100 yards) range, with common ammo (ie wolf soft point)? Premium ammo?
(That last is maybe a bit moot. People don't like getting shot and usually don't stick around to complain after.)
