You must have a hell of a barrel, because Hornady factory ammo (123eld-m ‘Black’ ammo) only averages 2400 +/- 10fps out of my 18 inch 3r AR performance barrel. With handloads (123SMK and AR-Comp) I can get 2460.
But near 2500fps average from a 16 seems...optimistic?
Nope it's been proven over 4 different chonagraphs.
But your still free to belive what you want.
Forgot too add, the reason for those speeds isn't because the barrel is fast, took some time and testing but got it figured out the reason I was getting those speeds from the factory eld-m ammo was due too that lot is hot loaded from the factory.
That same lot of ammo showed fast speeds through 7 different barrels, it is loaded to correct length but powder charge is way hotter then it should.
Hornady asked for it back, I declined to return it.
