IMO the biggest factor in getting a LabRadar to pick up accurately is alignment to the target. The factory notch kind of sucks. I glued a 1" section of a child's sized carbon fiber arrow shaft to mine to act as an aiming aperture.
My friend who turned me on to these did the same to his and is able to pick up suppressed shots without the microphone or Doppler mode.
