What factory ammo did you try? Quoted from BFT

"In my opinion, both Hornady American Gunner and SST will sometimes stick in the chamber a bit — even on a correctly reamed barrel. Their ogives are just fat enough to stick in the "kiss" of the first angle of the compound throat. Lifting the barrel off the table three inches and then thumping it down should provide enough inertia to drop them out without pulling the bullet. But this is different from a bullet being really STUCK in the throat.

Bill Alexander said the first angle — one-half degree before it hits the second angle of 1.5 degrees — adds about 600-1000 psi, but is nothing to worry about. It's factored into the design of the cartridge."

Some place called Alexander Arms loads a Nosler 120 BT available at MidwayUSA and I also tried the Hornady Black. Neither one would even come close to being in battery on the first three barrels.

Like a fool I used the forward assist on the first one and it stuck the bullet into the rifling and pulled the bullet when I mortared the rifle to get the round out. The result was powder everywhere and a bullet that needed driven out of the throat.

I used a cut piece of brass to then check the max OAL and it was a bit short. The next two barrels were ridiculously short (I checked OAL length before trying to chamber any ammo). I actually tried to handload for the third one and could turn out just a bit over 2" groups, but I wanted a barrel that would accept factory ammo if I were ever to sell it. The last barrel would take an OAL of 2.300" (if I remember right) with the Nosler 120 BT, but groups were never better than 5". At that point, I threw in the towel!
