I have a shooting chrony (green F1 that I modified years ago). I always fear just this. It looks like crap but a few years ago, I took selfadheisive LEDs and stuck them inside some PVC pipe with a section cut off (like a reflector - open along one side "C" shaped. Then hooked the DC converter up. Use the heavy political sign wire (do you have these bag-like election signs that slip over a wire U shaped - idk, holder?) in place of the 2-pc white plastic shade thing. I never get errors and these home made lights let me sit way up above the sensors.
