You can trim the length of the ejector spring and the brass wont hit the deflector so hard. Some guys balk that you may lose some reliability but I have excellent results doing it on several uppers. Besides the brass not getting overly beat up another plus is once tuned properly your brass will land in a nice pile just a few feet away. I will try & post a link once I find it.

Instead of trimming the spring so the ejector is flush to the face of the bolt (without the roll pin installed) I like to leave it ~1/16" longer. You might want to have a couple of extra springs on hand.
I'm pretty sure that here I'm supposed to say something like this... If you are depending on your AR for defense of life & limb I would leave it alone if it functions properly.
