I think he has an idea, and want's to accomplish it as light weight as possible. He's been counseled locally that putting a short barrel on top of his existing lower requires a stamp, which is correct. He doesn't want to build another lower. So, he's limited on his options. It looks like he's already partially committed by having the brake in hand. Now, any 11-12 inch barrel after pinning and welding will make it legal, and he's right it's probably lighter than another 5" of barrel.
If it were me, I'd be looking at the BAH, Faxon GB, or the 11" AA. The new GM group buy barrels look good too, but there aren't any results from their shop yet to give advice on.
