This appears pretty big. For those who don't remember, in 2013 the State Department decided that 3-D printer files containing information to print firearms parts fell under the International Traffic in Arms (ITAR) regulations. There's now been a settlement in that case. You can read about it here.

The big news is that the government has allegedly admitted that "non-automatic firearms up to .50-caliber including modern semi-auto sporting rifles such as the popular AR-15 and similar firearms are not inherently military. Kinda puts a dent in that whole "weapons of war" argument.
