6.5 G vs 300 Blk in 14.5" AR?

Unless you live out in the middle of nowhere neither the 300 BO or 6.5 Grendel would make a good home defense firearm. Too much penetration and you really don't want to kill your neighbor in the house next to you much less a family member in the next room. Even the 12 ga with any size buck shot can be a problem of over penetration inside a house. Plain old bird shot inside a house is the best. From across the room it hits like a slug on meat but really slows down going through walls.
