My home defense carbine is a 16" 300 BLK. Truck pistol is a10" BLK. 110 gr Varmageddons @ 2330 out of the carbine will put a quick stop to any threat and will likely dump close to 100% of its energy into a 2 legged varmint. Might make a mess of your carpeting though. My carbine weighs about 7 lbs with a Vortex Venom red dot on it so it's very maneuverable, but recoil is very manageable. All the powder burns in about 9" (they use Magnum pistol powder) so muzzle blast is pretty sudued. I'm still waiting for Nosler to do a Varmageddon or BTV in 6.5. I actually think 6x45 would be the best home defense caliber given that the recoil is less than 223 while pushing 70 gr BTVs at around 2700-2800, but I'd hate to have to try and explain to a jury why commercially available calibers weren't good enough for me.
