But, to address the issue seriously, I think you know as well as I why such stories appear only on the local news: They simply do not merit coverage on network news.
Time constraints limit how many events can be covered on a news show, and those which are reported on are selected for nationwide interest and importance.
Interest. There's no logical reason for the NBC Nightly News to report on a robber shot in Tulsa, when it will likely be of zero interest to residents of other cities and states.
Importance. 50,000 people shot in 50,000 separate incidents is just business as usual, but a wacko shoots 500 innocent people from a hotel room and it's headline news.
Well stated Stan. The truth is we will always have deranged people who harm others,"including people in power". I should know, I grew up with the worst serial killer in Montana's history,who happened to be stopped by another person I know, who had a gun. When I was younger, I new people who lived under Stalin and Hitler's clutches and their stories had an effect on me to say the least LOL. The gun violence problem has been declining as has school shootings, but most will not realize this as the left is searching for another marching mantra of evil assault weapons. The carnage in Chicago is ignored since it is run by a leftist with strict gun control and doesn't fit the talking points. Violence is world wide as a muslin bombing in Indonesia, to the knifing in France which just occurred. We live in a dangerous world that has always been dangerous and probably always will be dangerous. Disarming decent people for the actions of a few is disgusting to me and counter productive in my opinion. Governments love disarmed populations as they are easier directed and controlled whether for the better or worst. The good sign of freedom is we can still discus these topics without fear of retribution as can happen, "in the so called free nations of Europe" for having the wrong opinion. Freedom is precious to me and I never take threats to them lightly. I have listened to victims who were under the control of dictators and criminals alike and I will never give up my fight for our right to defend our selves. When I hear phrases such as common sense, registration or no one needs a, my warning light and buzzer comes on. Propaganda is used by both sides and will always emphasis the good while repressing the bad, just like dating
