I have lived in Vermont, Mass, and Western Washington among other states and places. I know exactly how the leftists view gun owners and conservatives.
Afraid it does come down to having a candidate who supports the 2A and also wins. You can convince anyone you want about the virtues of the Constitution but if they continue to vote for leftists, it doesn't matter.
You need to put Stan on an ignore list in order to keep yourself from reading his posts? So far with the 2A stuff, Stan has not done anything more than try to show reality. Reality is this. If the country continues to elect leftist gun haters into office, they will produce laws that will ban all firearms. And to make sure their laws are 'legitimate', they will put other leftist gun haters into the judiciary system so any appeal to their laws will be guaranteed to lose. It is a war. If our side wants to win, our side needs to put pro 2A politicians into office and fill the judiciary with the same.
As for PeterD's postings. This one has not stayed on track. Why? Because if it is true -- and I have serious doubts -- it is well within the rights of Dicks to hire lobbyists to push anti gun legislation.

For plinking, the only thing I really mind about M80 and M193 is that it's loaded hot. I understand why it's loaded hot, but the government isn't replacing my barrels for me!
I know what Stan is doing and why he does it and that's fine. But the persona that he takes on is that of someone who is beyond being capable of having his mind changed and that is someone i find not worth my time to discuss the issue with. The comments such as "I don't see how that's relevant" aren't worth my time and bandwidth for a response. The real battle lies with discussing and using the arguments we use not with Stan's persona, but with the people in the middle ground. The people who don't often pay attention and swing to and fro every four years where every election is won and lost. Besides, even an alt-rightie such as myself is entitled to a safe space every now and then. And if Room 2A was really a room populated by those of us here, the schtick wouldn't hold up for long. So I use the ignore function.
It is indeed well within the rights of Dicks to hire anti gun lobbyists. It is well well within their rights to stop selling guns. They can make any political statement they want. But us 2A supporters should all know and hopefully speak with our wallets. As law abiding patriots, our enemy as it relates to 2A is the same enemy who is also after our freedom of speech, our privacy, etc. It's a!l related. If government entities in California can pass laws barring municipalities from doing business with a company because they are a contractor on a Mexican border wall, or if radio stations can stop playing Kayne West music because he's an outspoken Trump supporter who wont back down, we need to fight the same economic war. I personally won't do business with Amazon because I will not support the owner of the Washington Post (nor have I set foot in Whole Foods since Bezos bought it). I'll never buy a Starbucks product again after Schultz pledged to hire 10,000 Muslim immigrants (instead of those who might be most qualified for the job, including Americans (where was the 9th circuit on that one!)). So we should buy are sporting goods from someone other than Dick's and give our business to a company that does support the 2A.
JA, I think the one thing we have going for us with with the indoctrination going on is Schools is, as Paul Joseph Watson puts it, Conservatism is the New Counterculture. The irony is that those who led the cultural revolution in the 60s have turned 180 degrees and modern liberalism has become the very thing that they rebelled against. Rebellion lives in the spirit of youth, so here's to hope!
