I don't think anyone believes the Constitution in of itself will actually prevent ignorant, dishonest or corrupt government representatives from doing anything. The Constitution is suppose to be the rules and the system is suppose to enforce those rules. Obviously this does not always happen with our guaranteed rights including the 2nd Amendment.

Precisely. Thank you. That's why I said the 2A is a theoretical limit on the government. It is "supposed to" prevent restrictive gun laws, but the reality is, it has not.
