Ar pistol trunk gun concerns?

The ability to respond with an AR, pistol or rifle, is about as rare as the attacks on people with an AR, pistol or rifle.

I'd call it a much more rare event. An almost non-existent event, actually.

If more people lawfully carried an AR, pistol or rifle, those numbers would change. You would see AR attacks, and you would see legal, law-abiding citizens respond with the same platform.

Yeah, that's what I said would be nice to have happen.

Look at how many people respond with personal firearms during a shooting.

You can look no further than the LATEST school shooting, in Maryland. Bad kid with gun shot one round, wounded two people (one later died). SRO responded immediately, and got a round off that hit the shooter's gun, as the shooter fired his second round into his own head. Over.

The trouble is, there are two major flaws with that example. First, it was an on-duty cop armed with a conventional handgun, not a private citizen with a concealed AR pistol.

Second, the cop failed to prevent the crime. The shooter was already done shooting innocent victims, and was in the process of committing suicide when the cop opened fire.

Sutherland Springs, in case you forgot, like the rest of the country did, as soon as main stream media stopped covering it. AR church killings with an AR were stopped by a law abiding citizen, who responded with an AR and shot the bad guy. With his AR. Nobody can argue that the bad guy got shot, and he stopped shooting innocent people when he got shot. Game over, it wasn't fun anymore for him, and he fled. 26 killed and 26 wounded. Higher numbers than the Parkland shooting, which has drawn too much attention, and this atrocity in Sutherland Springs was "overlooked." Because a good guy with a gun stopped it from getting worse than it was lookin' to be. Had Stephen Willeford not been there, it's probable that the shooter would have killed everyone inside that church. But he was interrupted...

Uh, no. The shooter was shot after he had done the slaughter and was leaving the church. The mass shooting was not interrupted, let alone stopped, by Willeford.

Willeford certainly deserves credit for keeping the killer from getting away unscathed, but let's not engage in historical revisionism as to what he actually achieved.

I will carry both. I carry a pistol daily, almost - ALMOST - everywhere I go. I try my hardest to avoid areas that I can't carry in. My hardest. I carry the rifle/pistol as well. The 9" 300BLK pistol has recently been replaced with the far superior 12.5" Grendel If it's not with me, it's near enough to get to, and I have enough pistol ammo to get to it.

I live near/drive through Phoenix everyday, for work. Lots of miles. When the I-10 shooter was active, I changed my truck carry. I still had the pistol, on right hip where it belongs. I swapped out a short gun for a Mk12 in a case, in the extended cab of the truck. It wasn't for me - it was for the people in front of me. Would it have made a difference? I don't know, but I drove to and from work everyday, and hoped I didn't have to find out. Had cars in front of me been shot on I-10, during the commute, I wouldn't have hesitated for a second to search for the source, I can tell you that.

And you just confirmed my point. You were never on the scene when the I-10 shooter was active, you have not been present for any past mass shootings, and odds are you never will in the future.

Now, if you want to routinely carry an AR SBR ... er, AR "pistol" ... I say great, more power to you. I'd probably do the same, if I were able. But, I do not kid myself into thinking it's likely to matter.
