Ar pistol trunk gun concerns?

Ok, so I'm trying to think threw the pro's and con's of an AR Pistol,...Never held one or shot one so trying to anticipate uses before I start spending money on components. I don't know if I would ever use it for the reasons most state.

You mean, doing a John McClane, and fighting terrorists or stopping a mass shooting? Yeah, the odds are that those who do carry an AR pistol will never be in such events, either.

It's actually kind of a shame, because if there were frequent use of AR pistols (or rifles) to stop such attacks, it conceivably could cause some folks to look more favorably on AR's.

Those of you that say you use it as a "trunk gun"
1) How do you store it in the vehicle?
2) are you concerned about accidental discharge? Floating pin on a locked and loaded firearm bouncing down the road?
3) We have had vehicle break ins in my area, do you keep it in 24/7 or only in certain situations? remove it daily?
4) do you consider it a primary or secondary option as a defensive weapon?

Those that store it in a pack for concealment/transport how easy is it to access?

A long time ago, I knew someone who -- like the AR pistol guys -- also wanted to have something more capable than his CCW handgun with him "just in case" he were to need more.

He opted for a compact 9mm SMG, stowed in a cheap vinyl, open-top, portfolio-type briefcase, kept under the driver's seat when in his car, carried innocuously in hand when on foot.

The spring-loaded opening of the portfolio case stayed closed to prevent passersby from seeing the gun, but allowed instant access to it. Don't know if it would work with an AR pistol.
