I agree, I really like my AR Gold that's in my 6.5 Creedmoor. I bought a Triggertech that is pretty close to the AR Gold in feel. That is what I have currently in my Grendel. It is nice and snug in the Seekins billet of that rifle. I had a couple of MBT's left that were new in the can. Figured I'd use them even if it is just to fill a void temporarily. The MBT at that price is probably the best of the bunch. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the MBT is a POS. It functions well. Little long and heavy compared to some others, but less than others as well. To be honest, the design of the trigger bow itself on the MBT is the best in my opinion. The reset on it is also great. That click is nice and positive. The travel to reset, that leaves a lot to be desired. Very gritty. Was like that on all three I've run. Over all not a bad trigger especially are $99.
My comment above was in regards to LaRue's site. I left reviews stating it was a good mid range trigger and definitely a great value at the price. I listed the pluses and minuses with the pluses and minuses and gave it a three dillo rating. First review never saw the light of day, the second was up for about an hour or two then removed. In the months since then I've run into others that have had the same thing happen. More than a couple have told me they won't buy from LaRue any more because of it. I'm not at that point because I think there are items that LaRue makes that are very very nice. Usually if I find a brand that is good I'll stick with them and only do cursory looks into other items. After experiencing the review system which should be labeled "praises only", I'll now do research into others first since there are many comparable products out there.
I've had that experience with other vendors so I definitely understand where you're coming from. I don't think you can rely on the reviews on a manufacturer's own site. There was a time when Larue was my first stop for certain products but they seem like they have fallen behind on technology. These days they seem like a value purchase; I bought the MBT's because of the price. For a precision rifle I'd rather have another AR Gold trigger but this specific MBT feels great and was $160 less expensive. I agree with everything you said though.
