Re: Guns in schools. I went to a small private school in upstate NY. There were kids from the city as well as the suburbs and farms. In my high school years, I regularly drove my truck to school with a rifle in the rear window gun rack. Just because. The school sponsored a hunter's safety course. The instructor wanted everyone to bring a shotgun and 3 rounds. The principle said to keep our guns in our vehicles (if we drove to school) until it was time for the class. If parents brought us or we road the schoolbus in, we had to put them in the principles office. The practice shots were done into swamp at the edge of the soccer field.
Those were the days.
But they were also the days of the teachers being able to paddle students. And generally, you got another when you got home.
