Vascar is right....they are a totally different animal. No Mil-spec, every manufacturer can make and usually does make proprietary parts. Different patterns of rifles and in the case of DPMS, 3 different versions. It is best to use upper/lower receivers and BCG from the same manufacturer to make sure all the major parts play nice together. Tolerance stacking in the big frame ARs can rear up and bite you if you aren't very careful.
