You are right. About the only advantage to the 243 is you can buy ammo at any sporting goods store.

Biggest issue with .243 Win. is factory rifles chambered with lesser twist pipes, but precision shooters usually are getting custom actions done, so no big deal.

I still like the 6x47 Lapua and 6 Dasher with Lapua BR brass.

I've watched a lot of 6 Dasher through the spotting scope, very flat cartridge, mild recoil. Wish they would SAAMI that one and make brass.
