novice asking barrel length question

Thanks - I'd like to build a light whitetail deer stalker carbine first...

And, just as I posted that I stumbled on AA's ballistic .pdf for the 6.5 which shows the data for the 2 barrel lengths. So, I'll answer my own question - here's a table showing the Velocity and K.E. for each for the 123gr Lapua bullet:




Looks like for that load, it stays above 1000 ft-lb out to 350 yds with the shorter barrel - that'll work for a deer-killer carbine I would think .
