I bought the 3 x 30 because you get a 3" eye relief when looking through the scope. The 4 power is 1.5" I was told so that's why I didn't go that route. I appreciate your kind words about the scope because I have always wanted one and this was my only chance to get one. I still haven't tried it out at the range, but you are right about it going on 1 gun and staying there.. It's mounted on a 16"Grendel with a collapsible stock and my 9 year old son can actually shoulder the rifle and use the trigger & he loves the scope too. Now I have to take him on his 1st deer hunt, when my knee is good enough to get us there..
